Agrofirm "Yuzhnaya" has started harvesting
The country's largest wine-growing enterprise began harvesting grapes on July 30. Last year, the Yuzhnaya agrofirm harvested 108.9 thousand tons. This year, experts are talking about a difficult season that could affect the harvest volume.
- The peculiarity of the 2024 season is the early harvesting period. This was influenced by weather conditions. Due to the abnormally hot summer, some grape varieties ripened in the 20th of July, and almost the entire varietal composition will be ready for harvesting in August - this is a rare phenomenon. But we responded to the situation in time: we started harvesting earlier, increased the number of people and equipment in the fields. The introduction of modern methods and maximum automation of harvesting will allow us to minimize losses. The gross harvest plan is still at the level of 85 - 90 thousand tons, - said Ivan Chursin, Director of Agriculture at the Yuzhnaya agrofirm.
Currently, they are harvesting the white varieties "Kristall" and "Platovsky". The dynamics of bunch ripening is carefully monitored by agronomists and the winery laboratory. The grapes are harvested using high-tech combines, which help to avoid the loss of berries and damage to the vines. The harvesting rate is increasing to 1000 tons of grapes per day.
Today, the area of vineyards of the Yuzhnaya agrofirm is more than 9 thousand hectares. In the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024, 900 hectares of young vineyards were planted. In total, the agrofirm now manages more than 12 thousand hectares of land on the Taman Peninsula and near Anapa.
